ORAC is a testing
system developed by the USDA to determine the effectiveness of foods and
other compounds to counteract Oxygen Free Radicals in the body. The USDA website recommends a Daily Antioxidant Intake Range of at least 3,000 to 5,000 ORAC.
Oxygen Free Radicals
are unstable molecules in the body that, if left unchecked, have a
cumulative damaging affect on the body’s cells and tissues contributing to
inflammation, aging, as well as a wide range of other health-related
issues.

Why is it important
to know the ORAC value of the foods you take into your body?
- The ORAC value
is the only way to know if your food is high in Antioxidants or not.
Why are Antioxidants important?
- Antioxidants
have been shown to assist the body in fighting cancer and heart
disease.
- They have been
shown to slow the aging process by neutralizing toxins such as free
radicals.
- They assist in
strengthening your immune system.
- Google
“Antioxidants” for even more information.
Can ORAC values be
manipulated?
- Many companies
overstate the ORAC value of their product in comparison to other competing
brands by comparing different amounts.
For example, they compare 1 oz of Brand X to 100 oz of their
product. In doing your
research, make sure you compare equal amounts of each product you
study.
Do I have to consume
Xoçai to get my Antioxidants?
- You can supply
your body with Antioxidants by eating fruits and vegetables
daily. Xoçai is a combination
of whole foods with some of the highest known concentrations of
Antioxidants. Even so, you
should take Xoçai in addition to eating a healthy diet of fresh fruits
and vegetables.
Can I just take an
Antioxidant Supplement?
- Pills are not as
effective as whole foods. Also,
you would be missing out on the essential phytonutrients and
bio-active substances only available through whole food products.
